The 316 grade alloys exhibits great corrosion resistance, pitting resistance to chloride environment, crevice corrosion resistance and stress crack corrosion resistance. Alloy 316 is susceptible to sensitization, formation of grain boundary and chromium carbides at high temperature. The grade is highly used in high temperature environment without compromising with resistance property.
